At Heater Shop, we carry a comprehensive selection of insulation boards that are suitable for use on a variety of floor types. You'll have no trouble finding the ideal floor board for your undertaking thanks to the extensive selection of thicknesses available.

Insulation boards represent a vital element in the realm of construction, whether you're embarking on a new home project or renovating an existing property. Their importance lies in the capacity to protect your home against the escape of precious warmth and the intrusion of unwelcome cold air. This not only translates into considerable cost savings but also ensures the preservation of valuable energy resources. The selection of the appropriate board hinges on the nature of your flooring and walls, a pivotal factor in determining the ideal insulation solution.

Should you find yourself uncertain about the most suitable insulation board for your specific requirements, don't hesitate to reach out to us. Our dedicated team members are eager to provide expert guidance. It's not only in conventional home insulation that these boards shine; they also play a vital role in facilitating wet underfloor heating installations. Floor insulation boards offer a range of advantages, including their versatility to serve a dual purpose. This means they can be effectively employed beneath various flooring types, from tiles to laminate in the case of floating floors.

This versatility is just one of the many perks offered by these boards, making them a standout choice for both new construction endeavors and renovation projects. Their adaptability knows no bounds and, in the ever-evolving landscape of home construction, they stand as a testament to innovation and effectiveness.

Insulation Boards

Thermal Insulation

The various types of floor insulation boards are variations of an insulated tile backing board that is lightweight and was developed specifically for utilisation with tile floor insulation. It is very lightweight, and it is simple to cut (with a saw with fine teeth, a jigsaw, or a utility knife, for example), as well as to work with. It does not warp, rot, or crack, and it has an excellent resistance to moisture. Additionally, it maintains its original dimensions. It also has the added benefit of providing a high level of thermal insulation, which makes it an excellent choice for electric underfloor heating systems. These boards are available in sheets measuring 1200 millimetres by 600 millimetres and come in thicknesses of 6 millimetres, 10 millimetres, and 20 millimetres.

XPS Boards

The application of our electric foil underfloor heating systems on timber and concrete floors calls for the use of XPS Boards, which have been developed especially for this purpose. An extrusion process is used to make XPS Insulation, which is also known as extruded polystyrene insulation. Another name for this type of insulation is expanded polystyrene. In order to complete this step, you will need to melt the plastic resin together with the other components. After being formed into a liquid, the material is then continuously forced through a die, where it undergoes expansion before being cooled. This results in a closed-cell, rigid insulation being produced. These can be purchased in sheets measuring 1200 millimetres by 600 millimetres and are offered in three different thicknesses: 6 millimetres, 10 millimetres, and 20 millimetres.

Decoupling Matting & Membrane

Our decoupling matting is a multi-functional matting system that has a three-layer construction and provides many other benefits in addition to decoupling. Renovation projects would benefit greatly from the speed and simplicity with which these can be installed. The decoupling matting serves double duty as a carrier for the electric underfloor heating cables. There is no requirement to install uncoupling matting followed by underfloor heating mats in a separate installation. The matting is sold in rolls with lengths of one metre, five metres, and fifteen metres respectively. Additionally, it is appropriate for use with all electric underfloor heating systems ranging from a cable thickness of 2 to 5 millimetres. Because it is able to absorb stress, the membrane ensures that the tiled surface will not become damaged. The residual moisture is able to gradually escape through the air spaces under the membrane, which helps to prevent cracks in the substrate from forming. This is just one of the benefits of the air spaces. The air gaps also make it possible for the heat to be distributed evenly across the surface of the floor, which makes the heating action more efficient and effective overall.

Energy Savings

By installing insulation on your property, you can cut down on the amount of heat that is lost through the cracks that exist between your floor, your walls, and the ground. In the end, if you waste less energy, this should translate into lower energy bills because you won't have to use as much heat to maintain the temperature in your home at the level that's comfortable for you. However, it is never too late to install floor and wall boards, and installing underfloor insulation boards might not be as expensive as you might think. The ideal time to install them is when a new floor is being installed.
