It is hardly surprising that Gledhill has grown into such a prominent name in the field of water heating. They began producing hot water cylinders in 1926 and have since grown to become one of the most successful and well-known firms in the United Kingdom. Their product selection is rather comprehensive and includes a variety of options, such as vented, unvented, direct, and indirect options. You can see how much effort is put into the development of their products since they have such a strong passion for the industry, and you can see that in each and every one of the products that they produce. Their dedication to providing excellent attention to detail and customer service is unparalleled, and we are tremendously proud to carry their products in our store.

Our Range

There are four separate subgroups that make up the Gledhill water cylinder lineup: vented direct, vented indirect, unvented direct, and unvented indirect. We anticipate that some of you will not be familiar with the distinctions between the various items, so in order to cater to such individuals, we will now proceed to describe the differences between them.

Indirect Cylinders

The water that is being heated and stored in indirect cylinders is heated by a source of heat that is located outside of the cylinder itself. The external heat source that is employed might be any one of a number of different things, including solar panels or boilers that are driven by gas, electricity, or oil. One product that perfectly exemplifies this principle is the Gledhill Envirofoam Copper. It has a very low standing heat loss thanks to its industry-leading 35mm HCFC-free insulation, which also makes it very environmentally friendly. The insulation comprises Polyol, which is made from rapeseed oil, which is a resource that is completely renewable. This further contributes to the value of the product. The product, which features an inside cylinder made of copper, is completely recyclable once it has reached the end of its useful life. It complies with the 2017 ErP standards, has standard male and female tapping’s of 1 inch, and comes with a warranty for ten years. In the event that they are necessary, compression fittings can be purchased as an option.

Direct Cylinders

Direct Cylinders are water storage containers that incorporate immersion heaters into their physical design. As a result, the water that is kept in the cylinder can be heated directly whenever it is required to be done so. To get the water to the desired temperature, it is not necessary to bring in any other heat sources from the outside world. These can be vented or unvented, which essentially relates to how the water is going to be delivered throughout your property. You have the option to purchase either type. The Gledhill Stainless Platinum is an excellent illustration of this, as it is offered in four distinct sizes that range from 120 litres to 210 litres. The 210-liter model is the only one that is able to meet the requirements for hot water in a home that has either two bathrooms or one bathroom in addition to two separate shower rooms. Gledhill's Stainless Platinum has been built from high grade duplex stainless steel. It is meant to eliminate the demand for an external expansion vessel, making it the ideal solution for areas with constrained space. The direct model comes complete with two immersions: one for use during peak demand and one for use during off-peak demand. This configuration enables the water storage tank to be heated using off-peak electricity, which contributes to the unit's high level of efficiency. Every model has a temperature and pressure relief valve, and it comes preset at the factory at 95 degrees Celsius and 6 bars of pressure. Additionally, it comes with a massive warranty that is valid for 25 years.

Vented Cylinders

A vented cylinder would acquire its supply of cold water from the mains by way of an isolated feed tank that would be situated in the loft of the building. The utilisation of gravity as a source of pressure generation is provided by the system. After being heated, the water for the various outlets that provide hot water is then sent out to be heated. The Gledhill Replacyl is a vented cylinder that is manufactured by Gledhill and is ideal for use in gas or oil boilers. For the purpose of seating the immersion element, it comes equipped with a compression fitting as well as an O-ring. Because it comes with a warranty good for ten years, you can be confident that purchasing this item will be well worth the money.

Unvented Cylinders

If you wanted to use the water pressure from the mains supply to distribute hot water throughout your property, you would want to use a cylinder that was unvented. This is because mains water pressure is much higher than the pressure in a typical household water heater. After that, it would be spread at a steady pressure throughout all of your hot water outlets. After that, it would be dispersed. The Gledhill Stainless ES is a great example of an unvented cylinder, and its capacity range anywhere from 90 to 250 litres. You may get it in a variety of sizes.
