Column radiators are traditional styled radiators, usually made from cast iron, that you would find in many old schools throughout the country. Nowadays they come complete with all the modern trimmings you would expect, yet have retained everything else that makes them a traditional column radiator design.
Column radiators are usually defined by the number of vertical columns they have. The more columns, the more heat they can output meaning they can offer high heat output. One that has 3 columns is usually referred to as a 3-column radiator or triple column, however they are available in 2,3 and 4 columns. This makes them ideal for small, medium and large sized rooms. They are perfect for both residential and domestic installations and provide great heat.

What type of radiator valves do I need?
Whether you choose manual, or a thermostatic valve will depend on your own personal requirements. Manual valves keep your heating system at a fixed temperature which can only be adjusted at the thermostat. Thermostatic radiator vales allow you to control the temperature at each in dividual heating outlet. These are available in many different colours and styles as well as straight and angled versions. The shape you buy will depend on where it is positioned. If you need any help with your choices, feel free to call the team on 01473 276686 and they’ll be there to help you. What size and heat output do I need?
We offer a range of sizes for you to choose from, but the size you will need will be determined by three factors; the size of the room, the space in which you are positioning it, and the amount of BTU’s you need to heat that room. Your output will depend on a few factors such as the size of your room and the location in the room that you are installing your product. Each of our products state how many BTU’s the radiator can produce and what size room it is generally good for. There are many heating calculators available which can produce this information for you, basing it on the type of home you have, the amount of insulation and other factors. All of this helps to produce a more accurate figure of how many BTU’s you’ll need to heat your room.
What are BTU’s?
BTU’s or British Thermal Units are used to measure how much heat is output by any given heating device. This can also be measured using Watts and this can sometimes cause confusion as to what the difference is. They are both different ways of measuring the same things in the same way we measure length using cm and inches. A simple conversion is available, to convert BTUs to Watts multiply them by 3.41. To convert Watts to BTU’s divide them by 3.14.
