From basic to WI-FI and smart oil filled radiators, there is a huge variety of options to choose from. We stock over 30 different colours, 10 different finishes and many different sizes. If you need advice on how to choose the right one for your home, call us now on 01473 276686.
How do oil filled radiators work?
These radiators heat up thermal fluid or oil which then transfers the heat into the room to warm the surrounding air. It takes a little longer to heat up oil than it does to heat wire elements, but oil filled electric radiators are excellent at retaining heat. Therefore, in the long term, less energy will be needed to heat up your room. Once you have switched off your radiator, the product will still release warm air into the room as they are designed to cool slowly.
Can you buy oil free radiators?
Yes you can buy oil free radiators. These are known as dry electric radiators or gel filled radiators. We stock a variety of these, such as:
- Dimplex Q-Rad
- Elnur RXE
- Elnur RXE Plus
- Haverland RCTTi
- Electrorad Aeroflow
- Electrorad Vanguard
- Electrorad Vanguard
Are oil filled radiators efficient?
They are considered to be efficient for many reasons. One of the reasons is because of the improved heat retention that oil gives. Wall mounted oil filled radiators are more efficient for the following reasons:
- Advanced programming - Allows you to adjust the heat setting and create heating schedules for every room in your home. This means that the rooms you use most often, can be heated for longer. The rooms can also be heated at higher temperatures than rooms that you don't use as often.
- Precise thermostats which reduces overheating in the home - Because the adjustable thermostats are so precise, your rooms do not get overheated. This means that energy is not wasted. Thermostats are on each radiator and not the house as a whole, so even less energy is wasted.
- Heat retention properties of oil are better - Heat is output for a longer rate with oil. They also produce heat after the product has stopped using electricity
Are they easy to install?
Yes they are easy to install. Many of our products come with installation guides and wall templates. This allows for easy DIY installation. However, we would always advise that you use a qualified electrician if you are uncomfortable with DIY or if you are planning to hardwire the unit. Most portable oil filled radiators will come with a plug supplied so will simply need to be plugged into a wall.
Do they need maintenance?
All of our oil filled radiators are maintenance free and require no servicing. This means they are hassle-free and a great alternative to gas central heating.

Frequently asked questions
Whats the difference between Oil filled radiators, Gel filled radiators, and Dry heaters?
Quite simply - oil filled, gel filled and dry electric radiators are all electrically efficient, but may be more appropriate for your installation depending on your specific requirements and the size of the room that needs heating.
Dry heaters are designed to heat up both quickly and efficiently whilst you are in the room, ensuring that no heat energy is wasted when you do not require it. An Oil or Gel filled heater on the other hand will take longer to heat up and release heat into a room, but will heat your room for longer even after being turned off as that retained heat is dispersed slower.
Oil filled radiators are also deemed to be safer than a dry electric radiator as air flow to dry radiators can be affected by dust - therefore they can overheat and can be hot to the touch for children and pets in comparison to an oil filled radiator. There are specific low surface temperature electric radiators available for dry technology, although these are not widely available – they are a fantastic option for those who prefer the dry technology electric radiator.
Gel filled radiator is very similar to the oil filled radiator, but uses a thermodynamic gel compound as an alternative to oil for heat diffusion around the internals of the radiators metal construction.
